5 June 2018 - a blank canvas
10-11 June: We have a new window display (our last at our current location) capturing the theme of our move to Centrepoint. Most people would be unaware that the shop at 145 Collins Street boasts a large stockroom under the shop floor. Over the long weekend we have been packing display items and re-arranging stock ready for the move to Centrepoint. Most of the display items, shelving and stock will need to be stored off-site as the new shop has limited storage space. LOTS done, LOTS more to do, but not much that can be seen as yet. We are hoping that an internal wall will be erected in the new store this week, and painting can start on the weekend.
17 June: The new shop's wall are being painted 'teddy bear cream'...
June 20-22: The new shop is taking shape: interior walls are up; and the flooring has started to go down!
June 25: The new lighting system is being installed...
June 27: The teddies and their friends are preparing for their BIG move to Centrepoint... The Collins St shop traded for the last time tonight after 39 years. Everyone is getting into boxes ready to start moving on Thursday. We re-open in Centrepoint on Monday!
June 28: What a BIG day! For poor Tiger at the new shop it was just all too much, what with more lighting going in, and a wooden screen going up as the glass for the new shop front had been delayed... Funiture and items moved from old to new shop, and late into the evening the old fashioned display cases were sanded and re-stained.
June 29: Another BIG day! While most teddies waited quietly in their boxes, shelves and other items continued to move to the new shop. The lighting team worked hard to finish their work, Telstra people were in to see why the internet was not working, and WOW the front window glass arrived BUT the surrounding casings wont be ready until 6am on Tuesday morning!! The re-opening is delayed until Tuesday 3rd July...
June 30 - July 1: LOTS has happened in the last two days! Teddies and friends are finding their places on shelves, furniture is moving around, and staining of new feature pieces continues at the Collins Street store. Hopefully the front window install will be completed Monday so that we can re-open Tuesday!
July 2: Our new display islands are in and loaded with cats, dogs and all manner of wild animals! The NBN is working (at last!) and pictures are up. Its an early start for the teddies tomorrow as the front window-box is due to be installed from 6am.
July 3: The front window boxing is still being installed, but we are open and the Teddies & Friends welcoming new visitors...
COME AND VISIT US IN CENTREPOINT (by the lifts)... OH, NO TEDDIES WERE HURT OR LOST IN THE MOVE!
